Jan Pfister

Jan A. Pfister is Associate Professor of Management Accounting at the Turku School of Economics, University of Turku, and an Affiliated Researcher at the House of Sustainable Society at the Stockholm School of Economics. His research focuses on performance measurement and management, with a particular emphasis on developing a prosocial paradigm that integrates evolutionary science into the study of economic performance — understood as emerging from the relational conditions that enable cooperation and sustainability. He introduced this paradigm in a 2024 paper co-authored with an international team of scholars, including David Sloan Wilson. He is Principal Investigator of a Research Council of Finland–funded research project and leads the Management Accounting field at Turku School of Economics. He serves on the Management Accounting Section International Advisory Committee of the American Accounting Association, is a member of the Corporate Resilience Roundtable (Switzerland), and represents the Finnish hub of the New Paradigm Coalition.
